a day at the park with mr. park

andrew and i went to the park today and i took my camera along...

i really wanted to get a picture of the tennis court. but i didn't know how to get in... thus, the chain link fence. =(

andrew got attacked by pinecones.

then we went to mars

and neptune

then i threw a tennis ball but that was after i acquired one albino leg and one tan leg...

then i jumped in the air, my eyes got chinky, and my hand got cut off.

then i took pictures of some breakers... (is that what you call them?)

then andrew started charging...

and flying...

and... ???

this picture makes me laugh.

oh no!!!

whew!

the end.

hello world!

it's been a really long time since i've updated but to be honest, i've been lazy.

but then i got an unexpected surprise (that's a bit redundant, no? aren't all surprises unexpected?)

anyway, there are two blogs that i love to read. one is pioneer woman and the other is color me katie. well...

in february i was happy (read: ecstatic!) to see one of my photos on pioneer woman's website for a contest she was having. it wasn't a great photo, and i didn't expect to win, but it was so cool to see a photo i took on her website.

then today as i was reading through color me katie... what do i see but a photo and link to the valentine's day craft i made for andrew! i had told her that she inspired me to make a craft of my own. so yay me! haha... =)

so anyway, i decided i needed to stop being lazy and put up a new post. but the problem is that i've been too lazy to take pictures of the things i've been doing. or... if i did take pictures of them, i've been too lazy to upload them and sort through them.

so instead, i'll just tell you what i've been up to and post some visuals after i pull myself out of this funk.

1. i've been really inspired by this chinese artist who makes stuffed animals out of socks! so, i've been sewing some sock stuffed animals and am currently working on a little sock doll girl.

2. another thing i've decided to do is start making hair pins for girls. it's super easy and a lot of fun, but i've been too chicken to put them on etsy (even though i made an etsy account) for fear that no one will buy them. *shrugs* we'll see what happens with that.

3. i've also been making things out of felt which has been really fun.

in the mean time, here are some old pictures i took but never posted:

i took this picture about a month ago while waiting for madeleine to do her business... i had just woken up not that long ago, and it was so nice outside...

andrew and i went to the lb aquarium for our belated 5th anniversary/valentine's day date. i normally hate birds, but these were so colorful and fun!

this bird looks strangely egyptian to me

"i am angry. leave me alone."

i love how the one on the left looks like it's whispering something to the other. haha

this is a rather old picture. it's from the first day i got my camera, actually. i like how the female duck looks like a ghost, haha.

okay that's all. i need to stop being such a lazy bum. any suggestions?

a birthday gift for evelyn...

it was my niece's 100th day (baekil) this weekend so instead of buying her a gift, i decided to make one. so, among my random random hobbies, i enjoy sewing. before this project, i had only made aprons, but i found it to be pretty easy to make. =)

isn't the fabric so cute? i found it at this little japanese fabric store in torrance. =) the dress is reversible and the reverse side matches the bloomers.
(this is for 18 mo.)

i put two different colors for the buttons on this dress and sewed them differently too, just for funsies... =)

these are for 6 months. these fabrics, i got at tall mouse. i absolutely LOVE the apple print. andrew picked it out! good eye, huh?

i realize now after posting on my blog, that the color of these pictures is kind of off. but i'm too lazy to fix. so deal with it! and yes, my walls are purple =)

alice's adventures in wonderland...

I've been really excited about Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland coming out... so I decided to sketch out my own interpretation of the characters.

Take a look and see if you can match my doodles with the correct character. Choose from: Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, Alice, Caterpillar, Cheshire Cat, White Queen, and White Rabbit. Some are completely obvious while others aren't. I don't have a scanner so I ended up taking pictures of my sketches... and so blah. Anyway...

Have fun! (answers at the end...)

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.

This was the first Queen of Hearts that I drew. But, I ended up not liking it and felt it didn't really fit in with the mood of the rest of the characters. *shrugs*

1. Cheshire Cat: Did you notice the belt smile and the whiskers on the shoulders?
2. White Queen: She's in all white!
3. White Rabbit: The pocket watch, and the headband is supposed to be reminiscent of bunny ears
4. Queen of Hearts: She's got the flamingo and a big heart on her shirt
5. Caterpillar: You know how caterpillars have those sections... well, use your imagination. (I have no idea why her head is so small...)
6. Mad Hatter: She's got the card tucked into her equestrian hat. (Though, doesn't the hat look like an army hat? Arg...)
7. Alice: No explanation... it's just how I imagined Alice to be.

How'd you do? I wanted to do Tweedledee and Tweedledum as well as the Red Queen and Jabawockee... but guess what? They're not from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. They're actually from Through the Looking-glass. Interesting right?

a fun valentine's day craft...

this year for valentine's day, i decided to make andrew a gift. i got the inspiration from color me katie. she has the cutest ideas ever! anyway, i had a lot of fun making it so decided to post it on my blog. it turned out super girly so i baked andrew a cake to make up for it. haha!

this is what happens when you leave your camera on manual focus and then forget to change it back to autofocus... oops!

here's the cover...

"hi."

"i have a surprise for you"

"ready?"

"Happy Valentines Day!
i love you
2.14.10"

the back...

it's pretty self-explanatory and you can probably figure out how to make it just by looking at it, but just in case:

what you'll need:
cardboard
glue
scissors
paper (i used scrapbooking paper)
cardstock
ribbon/lace
wallet-sized photos of yourself
embellishments
photo corners (optional)

*you can cut out cardboard into any shape you want and punch a hole at one end. i just bought the cardboard pre-cut =) makes life easier.
*cut out the scrapbooking paper/cardstock in the same shape as the cardboard and glue it on. glue your photos on to the paper. (i then used sticky photo corners to make sure they don't fall off)
*decorate with embellishments (paper flowers, rhinestones, brads, buttons, ribbon, lace, etc.)
*tie it all together with some ribbon.

have fun! =)

guten tag!

i haven't updated in a while. so some of these will go back. way back. back into time... oh wait. that's a blackstreet song.

on one of our many trips to napa, andrew surprised me with some dahlias from a farmer's market... the same one where caden asked why the salsa & guacamole lady's stomach was so big.

my sister and i baked a birthday cake for me! it was lemony and yummy

you can add sewing to my list of random things i like to do. this was my first project-- an apron for my sister. and since then, i've made... more aprons!

"did someone call for room service?" --madeleine, the maid.

andrew and i took a trip to SD where he showed me his talents in leaning.

here's one he took of me and my talent of ... standing straight. and having poofy hair.

i don't know what this is. but it's cool.

notice the resemblance?

here's what i gave out for christmas this year... cookie dough mix! it was fun making everything, but i made a huge mess and had a mini tantrum trying to figure out how to use illustrator to make the labels. don't they kind of remind you of pirates?

food. give me food.
this reminds me of those ... "hope for a better tomorrow!" pictures. if you know what i mean. if not, then oh well.

my sister asked me to take pictures for their holiday card this year. here's evelyn... just a couple of weeks old.

caden and evelyn

caden and his campaign poster. he's running for president. "CADEN KIM. CHANGE."

evelyn's first bottle. i made it black and white to draw focus away from the fact that evelyn is drinking air bc SOME PEOPLE... i won't name names... aren't paying attention!

the christmas tree in napa

"arrivederci!" --brad pitt in inglourious basterds
